Extreme weather - process if school closes
We will always make every effort to remain open in severe weather. We are obliged however to take several factors into account.
Our main difficulty is ensuring that we have sufficient teaching staff at the school in order for a full timetable to be taught. Our teachers commute into Harold Wood from all over Essex, from Rainham to Bishops Stortford and we have to judge carefully whether they will be able to get to and from school safely.
We also have to take into account the conditions on the roads around the school and on the school site itself when evaluating the feasibility of remaining open and assessing the risk to you and your children.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, a notice will be posted on the front page of our website should it prove necessary to close the school.
We will also send a PARENT MAIL text message to all parents, though please be aware that these messages are often delayed when there is a high volume of use.
We will also post the closure message on our schools twitter page at #haroldcourtprim
Please do not ring the school office to find out whether the school is closed as it blocks the telephone line for other emergency calls which may need to be made in the circumstances.
